Hygiene in the day nursery and child care centre and particularly child care centre disinfection is in the news every year due to the numerous cases of gastroenteritis, influenza, measles or other contagious disease.

The risks of infection in child care centre are important due to the many exchanges of children to children, toys, baby's bottles, nipples ... Indeed, they are little or not disinfected which lead to the transmission of pathogens if the child is in the incubation phase of infection. The risk of infection may be due to improper cleaning of the bottle and / or of the nipple or poor hygiene of staff and environment.

However, the risk of infection in a child care centre does not limit to the use of baby's bottles, the respect of hygiene rules is essential :

• a correct hygiene of staff's hands, before and after food contact, exchange, administration of the baby's bottle etc. ...
• a correct hygiene of children's hands before and after meals, toilets, at the beginning of the day etc ....
• a correct hygiene of premises, furnitures, cabinets, toys and other objects
• the baby's bottles, a major source of contamination, shall be made in a clean room designed for this purpose

Be careful : the use of chlorinated solutions is not recommended for hygiene of child care centre and particularly for maintenance of baby's bottles. Choosing a disinfectant for such maintenance must gather several criteria :

• A disinfectant must comply with current standards of disinfection (EN 1040, EN 1275, NF T 72-180 ...)
• A disinfectant is not harmful to humans and the environment
• A disinfectant approved "food contact" for the ingestion of disinfected objects by children
