It is a French standard determining bactericidal, fungicidal and sporicidal activities for disinfecting surfaces in the aerial way. The test is performed in a laboratory, which must be accredited by the COFRAC association.

It consists in positioning the machine (the diffuser) in the middle of a sealed room and then put strains behind the machine in different locations to ensure that the disinfectant powered achieves all surfaces in contact with the air of the room. The standard requires a throughput of 8ml/m3, so the machine will calculate the diffusion time required in minutes to reach this requirement. At the end of the transmission time, the standard requires a contact time of 120 minutes to allow the disinfectant to act. This contact time is very important to obtain the best possible results.
