Does steam disinfection work without any product ?

Yes it does, as steam can kill harmful microorganisms thanks to a significant temperature (110 °C nozzle exit) and a pressure between 6 and 8 bar. But there will be no persistence contrary to a combination of steam disinfection and disinfectant product.

The persistence of a product corresponds to the period during which the product will continue to be active. It can go up to several days depending on the product used. This concept is very important in disinfection as it avoids the environment to be conducive to the proliferation of harmful microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, spores, fungi ...). The steam alone is not persistent and is therefore not recommended.

Finally another major drawback is that steam only needs to be used very near the surfaces treated (1cm), otherwise the heat has no effect. Whereas with steam associated with a disinfectant, the distance does not matter, so it can be used in airborne disinfection, like the STAMBIO.
