Covid 19 disinfection of premises and surfaces

During this period of confinement in France and in many other countries, in addition to medical research to overcome this virus, it is essential to disinfect surfaces that may come into contact with it. Covid 19 disinfection is needed now, but will have to be carried out after containment, when we can return to our lives, our jobs and our activities.

Coronavirus or Covid 19?

This virus, which appeared in China at the start of the year, is a coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as SARS-CoV and Mers-CoV.

The disease caused by this Coronavirus has been named COVID 19 by World Health Organisation - WHO.

The incubation period (the period between infection and the appearance of the first symptoms) is generally 3 to 5 days, but can extend to 14 days. During this period, the patient may be contagious: he or she may be carrying the virus before symptoms appear.

Transmission of the virus

The disease is transmitted from person to person, mainly by spitting. Close contact with an infected person is considered necessary to transmit the disease: the same living space, direct contact less than one metre away when coughing, sneezing or talking in the absence of protective measures. One of the other main vectors for transmission of the virus is the contact of unwashed hands with the face. That's why barrier measures and social distancing are essential to protect against the disease.

But while the virus is transmitted mainly via droplets and direct contact between humans, it is also "possible to catch Covid-19 by touching a surface or object where the virus is present before touching your mouth, nose or eyes", according to the Center for disease control and prevention (CDC).

The survival time of the Covid-19 on inert surfaces and objects raises many questions. Some studies claim 12 hours on metal surfaces, 6 hours on clothing or even 9 days on wood...

Disinfection of premises and surfaces

The WHO states that it is possible to "wash the infected surface with a simple disinfectant to kill the virus", or "wash your hands with a hydroalcoholic solution or with soap and water".

Disinfection is an operation used to eliminate or kill micro-organisms and/or inactivate undesirable viruses carried by contaminated inert media, depending on the objectives set (AFNOR standard NF T 72-101).

Aerial surface disinfection (ASD) is a simple and effective method of disinfecting surfaces in a room. It involves spraying a disinfectant into the atmosphere using a diffuser. Discover our professional disinfection equipment and products

The advantage of DSVA is that it requires no human intervention, so it can be carried out at night to avoid immobilising a laboratory, a food processing plant, a train or a classroom that must be operational during the day.

In addition, this method can be used to disinfect all surfaces in contact with the air. DSVA (Disinfection of Surfaces by Air) is carried out in an airtight room, and the product will spread throughout the volume until the room is completely saturated with a dry mist.

Reminder of the disinfection procedure

" ON CANNOT ONLY DISINFECT A CLEAN SURFACE". The manual or automatic disinfection operation can only be carried out after the visible surfaces have been carefully cleaned (washing with a detergent and microfibre wiping). The aim of this action is to eliminate a large part of the "biofilm". Once this operation is complete, disinfection by Fogging can be carried out with Our disinfection equipment

1/ POSITION THE MISTER AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROOM.

2/ SET THE MISTING TIME ON THE MACHINE'S TIMER AND SWITCH IT ON.

3/ LEAVE THE ROOM

4/ CONDEMN THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROOM ( Fix a sign on the door: "DESINFECTION IN PROGRESS")

5/ DETERMINE THE MIST TIME + THE CONTACT TIME OF THE DISINFECTING PRODUCT (contact time for a virucide = 30 minutes)

6/ ENTER THE ROOM AND REMOVE THE SPRAY. (depending on the disinfectant used, you will need safety glasses + gloves + FFP3 protective mask).
